For a layered dinner, you are simply putting each ingredient into its own individual foil packet. Start by tearing off a length of aluminum foil. Place a steak in the middle of it. Sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper (or use your favorite steak spice rub, if preferred). Fold over the foil and crimp the sides to make a fully enclosed packet. Do the same with each piece of meat and set aside.
Wrap each ear of corn and each sweet potato in a piece of foil.
Put the sweet potatoes into the pot first, then the corn, then the steak packets on top. Do not add any water.
Cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours or on high for about 4 hours. Be careful when opening the foil packets – watch out for steam!
