Collagen Pitaya Bowls Recipe

Pitaya, aka dragon fruit, is a unique looking fruit that’s native to the Americas. It has a mildly sweet taste and small seeds that resemble those of kiwis. It is rich in vitamin C, magnesium, and B vitamins. Add to that a nice dose of collagen powder, a banana, and some coconut water and you’ve got yourself this delicious Collagen Pitaya Bowls recipe … perfect for a healthy way to start the day or a nutritious afternoon snack.

What I love about this recipe (and all smoothie bowls) is that you can always add ingredients that boost the nutrition and health benefits. You might add ground flax or chia, protein powder, raw honey, coconut oil, you name it. What I love to add is collagen powder. The benefits of collagen powder are unreal! After the age of 25, our bodies begin to lose collagen, which is why supplementing collagen is important. Not only is collagen important for your skin, hair, and nails, but it’s also an important part of your joints, bones, and tissues. If you want all those parts to be healthy and stay pain free for as long as possible, collagen is your friend.

I like to use NeoCell collagen because I can’t taste it and it dissolves quickly and easily in hot, warm, and even cold liquids. I’ve tried some collagen powders that don’t dissolve as easily in cold liquids, so this is important if you want to quickly mix some into juice or water. I like to stir collagen into my morning coffee to make sure I take it daily, but it’s also a great addition to recipes of all types, including this smoothie bowl!
