A Bright, Creamy, Five-Ingredient Gluten-Free Pasta That Feels Effortlessly Elegant

Some recipes prove that the simplest ingredients can create the most impressive meals. This Lemon Ricotta Pasta is a perfect example. With just five core ingredients—pasta, ricotta, lemon, Parmesan, and basil—you can create a dish that tastes fresh, creamy, and restaurant-worthy in almost no time.

Even better, this recipe is naturally gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free, soy-free, refined sugar-free, and vegetarian, making it a wonderful option for anyone cooking for multiple dietary needs. It’s light yet satisfying, elegant yet incredibly easy, and ideal for everything from a quick weeknight dinner to a relaxed dinner party.

The best part? The step that takes the longest is simply boiling the water for the pasta.

Why You’ll Love This Lemon Ricotta Pasta

This pasta recipe checks all the boxes for modern home cooks. It’s fast, uses minimal ingredients, and delivers bold, bright flavor with very little effort.

First, it’s incredibly quick. Once your pasta water is boiling, the entire dish comes together in about the time it takes to cook the pasta.

Second, it’s beautifully balanced. Creamy ricotta creates a silky sauce while fresh lemon zest and juice add brightness that keeps the dish from feeling heavy.

Finally, it feels elegant without requiring complicated techniques. The creamy lemon sauce coats the pasta perfectly, and a finishing sprinkle of Parmesan, basil, and black pepper gives the dish a restaurant-quality finish.

A Five-Ingredient Recipe That Feels Special

One of the most appealing things about this dish is how few ingredients it requires. If you don’t count water, olive oil, salt, and pepper, the recipe uses only five main ingredients:

Mountain High Organics Gluten-free pasta
• Whole-milk ricotta
• Fresh lemons
• Parmesan cheese
• Fresh basil

Each ingredient plays an important role. The ricotta melts into the hot pasta to form a creamy sauce, the lemon adds vibrant freshness, Parmesan contributes savory depth, and basil brings a burst of herbal flavor.

Because the ingredient list is so short, quality really shines through. Freshly grated Parmesan and fresh lemon zest make a noticeable difference.

What You’ll Need

To make this simple yet elegant pasta, gather the following ingredients:

The starchy pasta cooking water is also essential. It helps loosen the ricotta mixture and transforms it into a silky sauce that clings beautifully to the pasta.

The Secret to the Creamy Sauce

The magic of this recipe happens when hot pasta meets the ricotta mixture. As the warm noodles are tossed with ricotta, lemon, olive oil, and Parmesan, the cheese softens and transforms into a luscious, creamy sauce.

A splash of reserved pasta cooking water helps emulsify everything, creating a smooth coating that hugs every strand of pasta.

This simple technique is what elevates the dish from basic pasta to something that tastes rich, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared.

An Elegant Dish That Comes Together Fast

Despite its sophisticated flavor, this pasta is one of the quickest meals you can make. Once the pasta is cooking, the sauce comes together in minutes. In fact, the longest part of the entire process is waiting for the water to boil.

Because it’s so fast, this recipe is perfect for busy evenings when you want something comforting but still fresh and vibrant.

It’s also a wonderful last-minute entertaining dish. Serve it with a simple green salad and maybe a glass of crisp white wine, and you have a meal that feels effortlessly elegant.

Perfect for Any Season

While the bright citrus flavor makes this pasta especially appealing in spring and summer, it works year-round. The creamy ricotta provides comfort during cooler months, while the lemon keeps the dish light enough for warmer days.

You can also customize it with seasonal additions like sautéed asparagus, peas, grilled chicken, or roasted vegetables.

A Go-To Gluten-Free Pasta Recipe

Whether you’re cooking gluten-free by necessity or by choice, this Lemon Ricotta Pasta proves that gluten-free meals can be just as satisfying and flavorful as traditional dishes.

It’s simple, fresh, comforting, and sophisticated all at once—and it’s sure to become one of those recipes you return to again and again when you need a quick meal that still feels special.
