Gluten Free Argentinian Steak Salad Recipe
Argentina is high on my list of places I would love to visit. Everyone I know who has gone there has come back raving about the beauty, the people, the architecture in the cities, the wine, and the food! Especially the steak.
I can’t hop over to Buenos Aires right now but that doesn’t mean I can’t “visit” vicariously by making dishes reminiscent of the area. Or that I can’t enjoy those dishes with a nice glass of Argentinian Malbec.
I was short on time (and to be honest – energy) so I used a shortcut for this Gluten Free Argentinian Steak Salad recipe. Rather than make chimichurri sauce (a classic Argentinian condiment), marinade for my steak, and salad dressing, I used Lia’s gluten free Chimichurri salad dressing for the marinade and dressing (Lia’s makes two other great gluten free salad dressings: Classic Vinaigrette and Ginger). So easy, so delish!
Someday I will be sipping a glass of Malbec and eating grilled Gaucho Steak while watching a polo match in Argentina, but for now, I am really enjoying this salad and I hope you will as well.
Gluten Free Argentinian Steak Salad Recipe
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds flank steak
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup Lia’s Chimichurri Dressing divided
- 12 ounces small fresh mozzarella balls cut in half
- 1 pint grape tomatoes halved
- ½ red onion very thinly sliced
- ½ cup chopped flat leaf parsley
Instructions
- Season the steak generously with salt and pepper. Place in a large food storage bag and add ½ cup dressing. Let marinate at room temperature for 10 – 30 minutes (or refrigerate for up to 8 hours). Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
- Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Cook the steak 5 minutes per side. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Toss the mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, red onion slices and parsley with ¼ cup dressing. Arrange on a platter. Slice the steak and lay on top of the salad. Drizzle the steak with the remaining ¼ cup dressing.
