What happens when a gluten free, vegan waffle and a cinnamon bun have a baby? You get gluten free vegan cinnamon bun waffles!

These fun waffles have all that yummy taste of a cinnamon bun but with a whole lot less trouble. Just mix up some batter, let the waffle iron do the work, and then top the resulting waffles with a yummy orange drizzle.

For this recipe, I used Kim’s Simple Meals Organic Golden Waffles mix that I doctored up with some brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. This mix is gluten free, vegan, non GMO, and kosher and best of all, all you do is add water.

Why not wake up, smell the cinnamon buns, and eat waffles?

Gluten Free Vegan Cinnamon Bun Waffles

Ingredients 

  • 1 11.4 ounce box Kim’s Simple Meals Organic Waffles mix
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Gluten free non-stick cooking spray
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 3-4 tablespoons fresh orange juice, about ½ an orange

Instructions 

  • In a blender, combine the waffle mix, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Blend until creamy, about 1 minute. Let sit while the waffle iron heats up.
  • Preheat your waffle iron, spray with cooking spray, and pour in some batter. Cook 8 minutes or according to your waffle iron directions. Continue until all the batter has been cooked.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, orange zest and 3 tablespoon orange juice. Stir until the mixture is smooth and thick put still pourable. Add more orange juice, if needed.
  • Drizzle the orange sauce on the waffles.
