Homeopathic Remedies

An intro to homeopathic medicine with Ollois

I’ve always been a proponent of natural medicine and figuring out ways to let your body heal itself before turning to conventional medicine, depending on the health issue, of course. Whether through food, exercise, chiropractic adjustments, massage, supplements/vitamins, and cleansing or detoxing, I feel like there are plenty of methods to go about healing or feeling better.

Homeopathic medicine is one of those that, when you work with a professional and you have patience and a tailored regimen for your personal ailments, can also be beneficial. Homeopathic medicine is a medical practice based on the idea that if a natural substance causes a symptom in a healthy person, giving the person a very small amount of the same substance may also help the illness. It reminds me of using immunotherapy for allergies, which is where the patient gets small injections of the allergen to reduce allergic reactions. In homeopathic medicine, however, it’s very small doses and they come in the form of creams, tablets, ointments, drops, etc. Usually, the tablets or pellets are made of some sort of sugar or lactose that carries the diluted herb or medicine.

For those who are lactose intolerant, there’s a new option for homeopathic medicines and it is not made with lactose! The brand is Ollois and they make several individual medicines for various categories of ailments including digestive, sleep/stress, ear/nose/throat, skin, pain, and women’s health.

For pain, for example, you could take one of their arnica medicines. These come in various dilutions – 6c, 12c, 30c, and 200ck. The higher the number, the more diluted it is. So if you have recent, localized pain you’d use the 6c, if your pain was more intense a few days ago and is started to get better you’d take 12x, if you have overall pain like muscle soreness from a workout you’d take 30c, and if your pain is more dull or associated with emotion you’d take 200ck.
