Tandoori is a delicious style of Indian cooking in a cylindrical clay oven to create a rich, flavorful taste. Depending on where you live, you might have some restaurants near you that use this traditional cooking method to create tandoori chicken and other tasty tandoori foods. If you don’t have restaurants like this near you or if you do but they aren’t safely gluten-free, then chances are you’re going to need to make it yourself if you want tandoori chicken! But a traditional tandoori oven doesn’t come cheap. Luckily, you can get a similar meal with this Gluten-Free Tandoori Tikka Chicken recipe.

This recipe uses a Good It’s Gluten Free Tandoori Tikka meal kit. Good It’s Gluten Free brings takeout favorites to your home kitchen with its five easy meal kits. The Tandoori Tikka meal kit comes with the marinade, sauce, and fried onions for topping. All you have to do is add the protein. In this case, I used fresh chicken tenders. Simply marinate them, pan fry them or air fry them, cover in sauce, and top with fried onions. I also like to top mine with pickled red onions and fresh cilantro and serve the whole dish over cooked Jasmine rice. Delicious!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Marinate the chicken tenders in the Tandoori marinade from the meal kit for at least 10 minutes or longer, the longer the better.
  • Add enough oil in a large skillet to come up ¼ inch. Heat over medium-high heat until it begins to shimmer. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Heat the Tikka sauce from the meal kit in a small saucepan.
  • Serve the chicken over rice and top with the Tikka sauce, pickled red onions and cilantro, if using, and the fried onions from the meal kit.
  • The chicken can also be cooked in an air fryer; spray with oil and place in air fryer preheated to 400°F. Cook for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
