Hooked on honey

I’ve recently become hooked on honey. But not just any honey. Honey Acres’ Basswood, Buckwheat, and Extra Virgin honeys.

  • Basswood Honey is light in color and has a thin consistency. It’s sweet and has a very slight citrus note. This is great for sweetening tea in the evenings.
  • Buckwheat Honey is dark and robust with a flavor similar to molasses and sorghum. It is amazing on gluten free toast with a spread of brie cheese on top or on biscuits. See this recipe for my favorite gluten free biscuits to eat with this honey.
  • Extra Virgin Honey is a smooth and creamy honey that looks a bit like butter. It is the closest you’ll get to eating it right out of the hive! It’s very spreadable and pairs perfectly with those biscuits I mentioned above.

Honey Acres is a family-run business based in Wisconsin that produces fresh and unprocessed honey, honey spread, honey chocolates and honey sticks. They’ve become a new addiction not just in my household but also in the office at Gluten Free & More. The honey sticks come in handy for that after-lunch sweets craving and the staff here love the spreads, too.

Check out Honey Acres’ products and you’ll see exactly why they’ve been in business for 5 generations!
