The milkshake. An essential summertime treat enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Who doesn’t love a milkshake? You can make them regular or dairy-free, with a multitude of ice cream flavors, and top them with whipped cream, sprinkles, cherries, or any other way you prefer. This new recipe for a SunButter & Caramel Milkshake provides a healthy dose of protein from the SunButter and plenty of sweet flavor.

This recipe contains a whopping 26 grams of protein per serving, thanks to the use of Creamy SunButter. (Recipe is at least 21 grams of protein, but up to 26 depending on the type of ice cream and milk used.) Plus, this recipe is nut-free, also thanks to the SunButter.

Caramel sauce is often made with dairy, so be sure to select a dairy-free variety if you can’t eat dairy. A quick Google search revealed a few dairy-free brands, including Date Lady, Hey Boo, and Hum Yum. I haven’t personally tried any of those, so I can’t tell you anything specific about them. You can also make your own caramel sauce with my Salted Caramel Sauce recipe. To make it dairy-free, just swap the butter for dairy-free buttery sticks and the heavy cream for full-fat coconut milk or dairy-free creamer. Note that you might want to scale back on the salt if you make the salted caramel sauce and want to use it in this milkshake since the SunButter in this recipe contains salt.
