Loading up on chestnuts, adding more interest with pumpkin seeds, and heating it up with cayenne means this is no overdone classic.
Sweet n’ Spicy Holiday Chestnut Gift
Ingredients
- 2 cups chestnuts, sliced
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon dairy-free butter
- 1 tablespoon liquid stevia
Instructions
- Toast the nuts and seeds in a dry skillet for 3 minutes.
- Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the salt, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, cayenne, and garlic powder.
- Set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the water, butter, and stevia to a boil, whisking every 10 seconds.
- Drizzle the mixture over the nuts and seeds with a spoon until all liquid is evaporated.
- Transfer to the bowl of spices and toss to coat.
