Spicy Salsa Margaritas
Once upon a time, there were two ladies – Mary and Margarita – who put their heads together to come up with a tasty beverage to serve to guests. Mary, whose full name was Bloody Mary, liked her drinks spicy and tangy. Margarita liked hers with citrus and tequila. Together, they created these Spicy Salsa Margaritas, a fun play on a Bloody Mary and a Margarita. Made with salsa, lime juice, tequila, agave, and hot sauce, this cocktail is full of flavor and is perfect for happy hour with friends!
For this recipe, I used Xochitl salsa. You can choose any of their red salsas you prefer. Fresh lime juice is important to use – don’t use the bottled stuff. And of course, a good-quality silver tequila is also key.
What’s great about these cocktails is that they go really well with chips and guacamole on the side, making them perfect for a simple appetizer and drink combo. Need a quick guacamole recipe? Check out this easy guac. I like to serve Xochitl’s chips on the side – they usually sell seasonal Halloween colored chips and Christmas colored chips, in case either of those are of interest to you for the upcoming holidays.
If you like Bloody Marys and Margaritas, you’ll love this flavorful cocktail! Cheers!
