DIY: Beachy Hair Spray
Summer is on the way and that means it’s time for beaches, bonfires, picnics, and biting into perfectly-ripe local peaches. Summer is not the time for complicated hairstyles or high-maintenance make-up. After all, you’d rather be spending your time relaxing poolside, right? Enter DIY Beachy Hair Spray. This is a simple mix of sea salt and water that gives hair a fabulous texture and is perfect for the loose, beachy waves that every gal wants in the summer.
Makes 2 cups
2 cups hot (not boiling) water
2 tablespoons sea salt
Mix the hot water and sea salt. Pour into your favorite spray bottle. Shake well before each use.
For Thick/Wavy Hair:
If your hair is already thick or wavy, this spray will help to add texture and create loose waves without messy product build-up.
To use: Wash hair and lightly towel dry. Spray Beachy Hair Spray on damp hair and scrunch hair to create waves. Let air dry. To help add shine and tame flyaways, you can also rub a small amount of coconut oil between your palms and then scrunch hair again.
For Fine/Straight Hair:
Creating waves with very fine or straight hair can be a bit of a challenge.
To use: Wash hair and lightly towel dry. Spray Beachy Hair Spray on damp hair and scrunch hair to create waves. If this does not create your desired texture, then use bobby pin curls to add additional waves. Begin by grabbing medium sections of hair and twisting them around your finger. Then pin each section to your head using bobby pins. Keep bobby pin curls in place until hair is dry, then let loose. For extremely fine hair, hair gel can also be used after the spray when scrunching hair to hold waves in place.
