Gluten-Free and Plant-Based Meals

Sakara is a high-end company offering gluten-free, plant-based (dairy-free, egg-free), organic meals suited for a “clean eating” diet. All meals are delivered ready to eat, not frozen. We fell in love with the Thai veggie medley bowl topped with red pepper lemongrass curry. The weekly plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner for five days, with functional water and detox tea, at about $90 a day, $450 total. Subscribe to the service to save 15%. Sakara ships nationwide.

Gluten-Free & Paleo Meals

Pete’s Paleo

Pete’s Paleo offers certified paleo meals free from gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, corn, legumes, preservatives, GMOs, artificial sweeteners and natural sweeteners (like honey and maple syrup). These seasonal and organic meals come premade in vacuum-sealed bags, ready for the microwave. Expect flavorful, clean meals like garlic braised lamb shoulder with curry parsnip mash and broccoli. It’s $123 for five dinners, $115.62 if you subscribe.

Paleo on the Go

Paleo on the Go offers certified paleo, dairy-free, non-GMO meals made in a certified gluten-free kitchen. They offer autoimmune protocol (AIP), Strict 30 and sugar detox meals, too. You can order individual menu items, ranging from a chicken pot pie made with cassava flour for $18.99 to a four-pack of apple cinnamon paleo toaster pastries for $16.99. Items ship frozen with dry ice ($20 two-day shipping with $99 minimum order).

ButcherBox provides gluten-free meat delivery with 100% grass-fed beef, organic and/or pasture-raised chicken and heritage breed pork. Choose what meats you’d like in your shipment and add bacon to any delivery! The high-quality raw meat arrives frozen over dry ice. Each box comes with 7 to 10 pounds of meat, starting at $129 a box.

Mainstream Gluten-Free Food Boxes

BistroMD has two programs that offer gluten-free options. The Gluten Free Program is designed for weight loss with prepackaged, precooked meals that go from your freezer into the oven or microwave. A full five-day program, including five breakfasts, lunches and dinners, is $149.95. The Balance Program has gluten-free options for $7 to $12 a meal and does not require a subscription. Meals often contain other top allergens.

Veestro is a plant-based meal delivery service for frozen, prepackaged precooked meals. While not all meals are gluten-free, they are plant-based (dairy-free, egg-free, no meat). The Gluten Free Feast is $199 for a one-time purchase of 25 frozen meals, like kale and quinoa salad, golden chickpea stew and eggplant casserole. All entrees are made in a facility that also processes foods containing wheat, soy, nuts and seeds.

Terra’s Kitchen

Terra’s Kitchen offers multiple plans, including gluten-free, paleo and vegan meals. Fresh ingredients are packaged in the exact measurement you need for meals you cook yourself. Potential allergens are labeled online and on recipe cards. Terra’s Kitchen uses climate-controlled eco-friendly shipping boxes, which are picked up the next day and reused. The meals cost from $10.99 to $18.99 a serving. You place a weekly order with the ability to skip weeks.

Sun Basket

Sun Basket offers gluten-free and paleo meal subscriptions with organic, non-GMO produce, sustainable seafood and humanely raised, antibiotic-free, hormone-free meat. While Sun Basket also produces gluten-containing meal kits, each product comes individually packaged for you to prepare in your own kitchen to cut down on cross-contact. About $11.50 a meal, Sun Basket provides ingredients for three recipes a week for two people.

Always read labels carefully. Manufacturers can change ingredients without warning. Not every product sold by every company listed is gluten-free or allergy-friendly. When in doubt, confirm ingredients directly with the manufacturer.
