2020 Spring Faves
Spring officially kicked off last Thursday! Although many of us are staying inside and socially distancing ourselves because of the current outbreak of coronavirus, that’s no reason to miss out on the splendor of the spring season. Go outdoors in your backyard or to a not-so-crowded park and get some fresh air. And while you’re out there, take a break from the pandemic news. If you need something to look at on your phone, how about browsing through this list of some of our favorite products this season? You can order these products online, from the comfort of your own home, so there’s no need to take a trip to the grocery store!
Lopaus Point Gluten-Free Waffles
Let’s start with breakfast! These babies are a true favorite here at Gluten Free & More. The staff eats these up so quick that it becomes a rough day in the office when we run out. Fighting over the last waffle? It’s not unheard of when it comes to these. They are fluffy on the inside even when you toast them up nice and golden brown on the outside. Available in Wild Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Banana Flax, and Pumpkin Spice, there’s a flavor for every palate. If we had to pick, the office fave would be blueberry, but we really do enjoy all four varieties! What’s great about these is that they are made with real, high-quality ingredients: organic quinoa, almond flour, golden flax, brown rice flour, and whole, organic fruit to lightly sweeten the waffles – no sugar or fruit juice concentrates. The waffles are made in a certified GFCO facility and are also free from dairy and soy.
Right now through March 31st, if you order 4 packs of waffles, Lopaus Point will donate 1 pack to a local food bank.
Further Foods Superfood Powders & Collagen
Further Foods is a health-focused brand we recently fell in love with. They offer superfood powders like turmeric and matcha, collagen powders in various formulas, and ashwagandha capsules. Their mission is to “further your health, naturally” and I absolutely love that! I believe in eating a healthy diet, and foods that may not be traditional here in the U.S. but are known to have healthful properties in other cultures (turmeric, for example) are a great addition to that. And collagen has been a good friend of mine for a while now. I’ve written about the benefits of collagen and why I’m such a fan of it in several previous blog posts (check out our archive of collagen related posts here) – I only wish I knew about collagen sooner! Further Foods has several recipes on their website to show you all the delicious ways you can use their products. Check out their recipe for a Matcha Vanilla Latte (pictured) here.

Veggies Made Great Veggie Cakes & More
Another favorite in the office – Veggies Made Great! This brand makes superfood veggie cakes, frittatas, muffins, and more – all packed with nutritionally smart veggies (white potatoes won’t be the first ingredient in any product; think broccoli, bell pepper, etc.). They come frozen and can be heated up quickly and eaten as-is or added to recipes. Try superfood veggie cakes mashed up in tortillas with avocado and salsa for a tasty “breakfast taco” – a quick and simple meal we make in the office quite often. Veggies Made Great products are free from gluten, soy, peanuts, and tree nuts. And right now you can join the Veggies Made Great online community and become a #VegHead to get access to exclusive offers, chat with health experts each month, share recipes, and more. MYBREAD Gluten-Free Dinner Rolls & More
MYBREAD is a fairly new finding of ours and I have to say, I’m so very happy we stumbled onto this brand. MYBREAD has the same taste and texture of ‘regular’ breads (at least from what I remember of ‘regular breads, as it’s been a while!). From pita bread to baguettes to dinner rolls, with MYBREAD you get to enjoy some of your old favorites that you may not have had in a while since going gluten-free. Best of all, all MYBREAD products are not only gluten-free but also vegan and free from eggs, dairy, nuts, and soy. If ever there was an allergy-friendly bread, this is it! I love using the dinner rolls to make little hoagie-style sandwiches and use the baguettes to make crostini.
Bohana Popped Water Lily Seeds
Popped water lily seeds are exactly what they sound like, but what do they taste like? They’re unique – similar to a very light popcorn without the kernel, but also not quite popcorn. They’re one of those foods that need to be tried and once you do, you’ll be glad you did! They have been consumed in India for centuries as an Ayurvedic superfood, and now they’re available here in the U.S. for us to enjoy. They’re light, crunchy, puffy, and satisfying – the perfect alternative to popcorn for movie nights and a great topping on salads in place of croutons. Bohana is available in Himalayan Pink Salt, Wild White Cheddar, and Soulful Sriracha Spice. My favorite is the Himalayan Pink Salt.

Gluten Free Prairie Hunger Buster Cookie
Spring is the perfect time to get outdoors – go on a hike, enjoy a picnic, read a book on the porch. Gluten Free Prairie’s Hunger Buster Cookie is our current grab-and-go snack for these outdoor moments. As the name suggests, it’s filling. It’s kind of like an energy bar in cookie form, and is made with wholesome ingredients like oats, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and raisins. What’s great about Gluten Free Prairie is that their oats are Purity Protocol, which means they are grown in clean fields (field that haven’t had wheat, rye, or barley grown in them for at least 4 years). Their farmers also use designated equipment to harvest the oats. And finally, the oats are processed in a facility that only works with these oats, so there is no cross contamination. This is great news for people who avoid oats due to the potential of cross contamination. Purity Protocol oats are the safest, so it’s possible to finally be able to eat oats again with Gluten Free Prairie’s products!

Paleo Pro Protein Powder
Protein powder is a year-round part of my diet, but I find it comes in really handy when I’m trying to get outside more, doing more activities like walking the trail near my house, or even while spring cleaning when you don’t want to take a break to eat but you still need fuel! Paleo Pro is great for those who can’t or don’t want to consume whey protein. It’s dairy-free protein powder that’s minimally processed and made with egg and beef protein, making it a well-rounded protein full of amino acids and all the good stuff you need in a protein powder. They offer protein powder in a variety of flavors, plus a greens powder, recovery powder, and NEW protein bars! For their protein powder, I love their Mocha Mint flavor (pictured) or their Mayan Mocha flavor blended up with some coffee for a nice dose of protein to my morning java, especially since I don’t always eat breakfast.
