Back to school with Rule Breaker brownies

I’m always intrigued by products that aren’t what they appear … products that are out of the norm and that break the “rules” especially when that means they are healthier than they appear. One example that I recently had the pleasure of trying is Rule Breaker brownies made with chickpeas as the first ingredient and other good-for-you ingredients.

What’s great about these brownies is that they taste luscious and rich and give you that “I’m being bad” kind of decadence, but they’re actually not bad for you at all! Rule Breaker brownies come in several varieties including Deep Chocolate Brownies (my fave!), Chocolate Chunk Blondies, and the brand-new Birthday Cake Blondies.

Right now is an ideal time to learn about and try these because we’re approaching back-to-school season and if your kids go to schools that have “no nut” rules or if your child has any food allergies, these are great to pack in their lunches or share at school functions. They are not only Certified Gluten-Free by The Gluten Intolerance Group and made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, but they are also free from the top 8 allergens (wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, eggs, soy, shellfish and fish), plus they’re free from sesame, which is an increasing allergy in kids.

According to FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education), roughly 1 in 13 children under the age of 18 have food allergies, which is about 2 per classroom! And if that isn’t reason enough to send kids to school with allergen-free options, just know that every 3 minutes, a food allergy sends someone to the emergency room. This is scary stuff, especially for parents of kids with food allergies and the kids themselves, so send the kids to school with a treat that won’t break the “no nut” rules but will break all the rules you thought you knew about dessert … Rule Breaker brownies!

As a bonus, Rule Breaker brownies and blondies are vegan, plant-based and preservative-free, so they’re perfect for practically all diet preferences, allergies, and more.
