Gluten Free Hickory Smoked Brisket Recipe

If it’s too cold to go outside and barbecue, that’s OK! You can still get all the flavor and smokiness of an old-fashioned cookout in your kitchen, in your very own slow cooker.

This is one of my favorite indoor barbecue recipes, I hope you enjoy it!

Liquid smoke is a fun product to keep in your spice cabinet. It’s gluten-free and is made by collecting condensed steam from burning wood chips at a high temperature. A little bit goes a long way!

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds beef brisket
  • ½ tablespoon celery salt
  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup gluten-free steak sauce such as A.1.
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • Hot mashed potatoes or cauliflower for serving

Instructions

  • Use a 6-quart slow cooker. Put the meat into your slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the celery salt, garlic powder, pepper, steak sauce, and liquid smoke. Pour the mixture evenly over the top of the meat. Using kitchen tongs, flip the meat over a few times to disperse the sauce and coat all sides of the meat.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the meat shreds easily between two forks. Serve over hot mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower.
