Daily Detox Drink Recipe
We could all use a little detox or refresher every now and then – reset your system, cut out the junk food, focus on wellness and taking care of your body. If that sounds like something you could use, this Daily Detox Drink recipe might be useful!
This drink is simple to make and uses multiple ingredients that are known to be good for you: honey, raw apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice, and ginger.
This recipe calls for Manuka honey specifically. If you’re wondering what the difference is between Manuka honey and others, I’ll tell you. Regular honey has been pasteurized (heated to high temps) and filtered, raw honey hasn’t been heated or filtered, and Manuka honey is honey that comes from bees that feed on the manuka plant, found only in New Zealand. Manuka honey also has what’s called a Unique Manuka Factor, or UMF, rating. This rating validates the quality of the honey, the authenticity that it comes from New Zealand, and more importantly it rates the levels of methyglyoxal and leptosperin, which are what gives honey its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. I used Kiva Manuka Honey, which comes in 15+ UMF and 20+ UMF.
Manuka honey has been shown to help with wound healing when applied topically but has also shown promise for its antibacterial and antiviral properties in helping things like sore throats, dental/gum care, and more.
It’s important to NOT use boiling or overly hot water in this recipe, as that can deteriorate the beneficial properties of the honey.

This recipe does not say how many times to drink? Once a day? How many days a week? It also does not give side effects – what happens to your body when you drink this? Thank you
Hi Mary,
This is supposed to be a healthy drink with natural detox properties but it’s not a cleanse type of thing, if that’s what you’re asking. You can drink this daily, in place of tea or your other favorite warm beverage. I wouldn’t recommend more than twice a day, depending on your daily sugar intake, as honey is still a form of sugar.
Hope this helps.
May I suggest using a straw if this is consumed daily, as the acid in the vinegar can erode the enamel from your teeth. I have sensitive teeth and notice more sensitivity if I drink this often.
