Ingredients 

  • 1 large red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 medium sweet onion, diced
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon mulling spice, in a cheesecloth bag or tea steeper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher or fine sea salt
  • Few turns of fresh cracked pepper

Instructions 

  • Place all ingredients in a 6-quart slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Remove the cheesecloth bag. Strain off any extra liquid, and serve.
